11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. -  Enjoy lunch at Metropolitan Steakhouse, 1501 Metropolitan, (913) 651-6624.  The Steakhouse, established in 1999, is known as the Little Steak House across from the Big House.  Please refer to Metropolitan Steak House Menu for prices.   The restaurant accepts MasterCard, Visa, and Cash.  Souvenir T-Shirts are available for $15.00 each.

12:30 p.m.– 2:30 p.m. Tour Fort Leavenworth, KS.  View the oldest active military post west of the Hudson River during a guided tour of Fort Leavenworth. Fort Leavenworth is known as the "Best Hometown in the Army" and features the Buffalo Soldier Monument, the Frontier Army Museum, Oregon and Santa Fe Trails, Memorial Chapel, and more.  Your tour will include a drive-by and stories of the Haunted Homes and buildings of Fort Leavenworth.  Drive through the National Cemetery, established by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862.  It is one of the first 14 national cemeteries and is the final resting place for 23,000 veterans from every war since 1812. The cost for the guided Fort tour will be a $40 flat fee, payable directly to your tour guide.

Tour the nationally-recognized Buffalo Soldier Monument, which was dedicated in 1992 by General Colin Powell to the memory of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments comprised of African-America soldiers. 

Visit the Frontier Army Museum which is home to personal artifacts of General Henry Leavenworth, an exhibit depicting the history of African-American servicemen, the Buffalo Soldiers, and many other intriguing galleries and memorabilia from 1804-1917. The museum is located at 100 Reynolds Avenue, Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027. The phone number for the museum is 913-684-3191.  The museum has a suggested donation of $4 per person.  The donation can be made payable directly to the Frontier Army Museum.

2:45 p.m.– 5:00 p.m. - Shop in historic downtown Leavenworth where you will find a variety of unique shopping options to include home décor, gifts, garden items, home goods, fun & funky jewelry, clothing, specialty teas and foods, antiques, furniture, sewing, knitting and quilting supplies, pottery and more.  The Leavenworth Antique Mall located at 505 Delaware Street has Leavenworth souvenirs available for purchase. 

5:15 p.m.– 6:15 p.m. – Check into your hotel. The Leavenworth CVB will contact the local hotels to inquire about room block pricing for your group.  Upon receipt of information, you may contact the hotel of your choice to confirm your reservations.

6:30 p.m.– 9:30 p.m. – Enjoy dinner and a show at The Heritage Center, 109 Delaware Street, (913) 682-2122. The Heritage Center proudly presents numerous dinner-and-show nights throughout the year.  Costs generally begin at $30 per person.

DAY TWO:

8:30 a.m.– 9:30 a.m. – Breakfast at your hotel.

9:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. - Tour the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum. Take a ride on a restored 1913 wooden carousel and get a behind the scenes tour of the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum, 320 Esplanade Street, (913)682-1331.  Thousands of volunteer hours have been dedicated to the restoration of the Carousel, which was purchased in 1997 before it operated for the first time in 2005!  Best of all, the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum celebrates all that is beautiful and good with carousels. Visitors can ride a carousel, which is more than 100 years old!  The cost to ride the carousel and take the museum tour is $5.00 per person for groups of 20 or more, with check directed to C.W. Parker Carousel Museum.

11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. – Enjoy lunch at The Depot, 781, Shawnee Street, Leavenworth; Phone: 913-297-0361.   The Depot is not your typical family-owned restaurant.  They offer homemade food served in a laid back atmosphere.  They also happen to be a national landmark – a former train station that began service in 1887 and is a stop on a local ghost tour.   Please see the menu for your lunch selections, ranging from $9.00 to $12.00. 

1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Leavenworth Vintage Homes Tour, (2nd Sunday in December) a benefit for the Leavenworth County Historical Society, which has been preserving the history of Leavenworth County since 1954.  At this time, the list of homes on the tour is not yet available.    Call (913) 682-7759 for more information. 

5:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. – Relax at the hotel and freshen up for dinner.

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. - Dinner at a local restaurant Speak with us to find out the variety of options and locations that we have to accommodate your group. 

DAY THREE:

8:00 a.m.– 9:00 a.m. – Breakfast at your hotel.

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. - Guided Tour of Leavenworth - Tour of the “First City of Kansas”, established in 1854. Points of interest include Fred Harvey’s Home, Carroll Mansion, Buffalo Bill Cody, numerous other historic homes, the renovated 1888 Union Depot, Ripley’s “Believe It or Not” Chapel and the “Big House” which is the United States Federal Penitentiary—drive by only!  The cost for the guided city tour will be a $40 flat fee.  

10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – Tour the Richard Allen Cultural Center, 412 Kiowa Street, Leavenworth, (913) 682-8772. This museum offers a glimpse into the history of the African-Americans locally and nationwide. Visitors can learn about the accomplishments of African Americans as well as view memorabilia from General Colin Powell, Buffalo Soldiers and freedom papers from former slaves.  Meet Buffalo Soldier members from the 9th and 10th Cavalry Association and hear their stories and those of the past.  You can even tour the home of a former Buffalo Soldier located within the museum.  Cost is $6-$8 per person, based on the visit and or events you choose to include. Payment is made payable directly to the Richard Allen Cultural Center. 

11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - Enjoy lunch at TenPenny Restaurant and Bar, 529 Cherokee Street, (913) 651-1010.  They offer casual American fare served in a relaxed pub atmosphere with sports décor and brick walls.  Their famous homemade potato chips are always ready for you!!  You can even buy them by the bag to take home!  Your guests may order from the main menu with selections ranging from $9.00 - $14.00 per person. 

1:15 p.m.– 3:00 p.m. - Enjoy an art class customized for your group at spots like The Small Hinge, 1708 2nd Ave. Enjoy some creative fun as part of a birthday celebration or team building get-together!

3:00 p.m. – Depart "The First City of Kansas" with lasting memories!!
