Things To Do

Whether business or pleasure brings you to the historic city of Leavenworth, there are plenty of sites to see. Local restaurants and attractions range from beautiful farms and wineries to premium shopping and gourmet restaurants. At the Leavenworth Convention and Visitors Bureau, we love to help you discover the array of things to do in our city.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

As Kansas' first city, Leavenworth retains many of the original structures from its early years. History buffs can start at the Carroll Mansion, a Victorian-era house that serves as the home of the Leavenworth County Historical Society and a museum of local artifacts. Visit the Chapel of the Veterans, a European-inspired cathedral built in 1893, and then discover the Historical Wayside Tour, with over 20 historical markers depicting images of significant historical people, structures, and events associated with that site.

In fair weather, spend the day at Leavenworth Landing Park along the Missouri River, where your family can have a picnic and explore miles of trails. Children will love the restored 1918 C.W. Parker Carousel, which is open for rides in a two-story carnival museum that hosts guided tours. With so many local attractions, Leavenworth is an enjoyable location for a day trip or weekend excursion.

When it's time to take a break, downtown Leavenworth has lunch and dinner choices ranging from Mexican to sushi to Thai to classic American fare. Whether you want to grab a quick bite or have a relaxing, romantic evening, you'll find what you're looking for in our dining scene.
