Melissa Etheridge Tour #8: Sportsfield Park

On May 20, 2015, Melissa returned to Leavenworth to dedicate a baseball field in honor of her father and his years of support of local youth sports. The surrounding park consists of 30 acres of land.

The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The attached sporting complex opens during events only. Inquiries about field usage should be directed to the recreation program supervisor at (913) 758-6648.

Amenities here include ball fields, the Cody James Clark Skatepark and a walking trail. Inside the complex are restrooms, play equipment for children 2-12 and a concession stand.

The City acquired land for Sportsfield in 1955 and added additional acreage in 1970. The Leavenworth Skate Park was constructed in 2009 and named in honor of one of the young men who spearheaded the drive to build it. Sportsfield Recreation Complex was completed in 2011.
