Deck and Porch Requirements and Permit

STARTING JULY 1, 2025, THE ESTIMATED VALUATIONS FOR DECKS, ROOFS, ADDITIONS, AND NEW HOMES WILL INCREASE

On May 1, 2020, the City of Leavenworth adopted the 2018 International Code.

 


City of Leavenworth DOES NOT require a Business license or Contractors license for General Contractors

Deck Construction Requirements:
*This is not a full list of requirements, please see the 2018 IRC for full requirements

Footings must be a minimum of 36" in depth and 12" in width

Hand rails/guards must be a minimum 36" in height

Open guardrails on decks more than 30" above grade or a floor below shall have members spaced

so that a 4" diameter sphere cannot pass through. 

 

Site Plan Requirements:

What is a site plan for a deck?
A site plan is a drawing that shows your property boundaries, the house, and other major structures, it also shows the set back distances between main structures and property lines to the deck construction. A simple deck plan only needs to be a sketch that includes these measurements.
