City to utilize new information texting tool
July 25, 2025 | Public Information Office
The City of Leavenworth is partnering with the Leavenworth County Emergency Management Office for a texting tool that will benefit the public by providing text or e-mail news notifications. This is a pilot program provided at no additional cost to the City. It provides real-time communication for urgent information — such as City closures or changes in service — to the general public.
The texting and e-mail service will serve as part of the City’s public communication system that includes several other services including this website, and:
- City Facebook page, CityofLeavenworthKS
- City Instagram page, leavenworth_kansas
- City NextDoor site, City of Leavenworth
The City plans to use the service to send out messaging as it relates to City services. This might include trash collection changes during holiday or weather events, road closures, park or pool closures. Members of the public interested in the service can sign up for additional messaging from the Leavenworth County Emergency Management on the same website or download the Alert Sense app.
The website is

The list for the City is called “Leavenworth City.” Any member of the public may sign up.
Users may sign up with or without an additional app on the website link above, and the Alert Sense system will send messages to their requested destination – e-mail, text or voice messaging.
