The Leavenworth Planning Commission is scheduled to meet 6 p.m. Monday, February 2 at Leavenworth City Hall, 100 N. Fifth Street. Because of anticipated public interest, the City is sharing the following information to help attendees plan ahead and to support an orderly and safe environment.

Safety and Building Logistics

Police and Fire personnel will be on-site for security and to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes.

Seating in the Commission Chambers is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The doors to the Commission Chambers will be open to the public at 5 p.m. Standing will not be permitted inside the Commission Chambers. Speakers may approach the podium when called for public comment.

For those unable to be seated in the Chambers, the City will provide an overflow viewing area in the hallway outside the Chambers, including audio and a television display with a live feed of the meeting. Please note that overflow capacity is also limited, and there will be restricted access to certain areas of the building to maintain safe walkways and allow for normal building operation.

City staff has made a reasonable effort to ensure the overflow setup functions properly in advance. The hallway audio/television feed is provided as a courtesy and is dependent on equipment and connectivity that may be subject to technical issues. The Planning Commission meeting will proceed as scheduled uninterrupted and will not be delayed to troubleshoot technology.

Meeting Decorum and Minimizing Disruptions

The Planning Commission's ability to conduct a meeting depends on maintaining a meeting environment that is respectful and free from unnecessary distractions. Attendees are asked to keep movement in and out of the Commission Chambers to a minimum once the meeting begins, silence mobile devices, and avoid interruptions. Individuals who disrupt the meeting or interfere with public safety may be asked to leave so the Planning Commission can continue its work.

Public Comment

All meetings are open to the public. Public comment will be limited to three (3) minutes per speaker. Individuals who wish to speak must provide their name and address on the provided sign-in sheet prior to the start of the meeting. Speakers are asked to listen carefully for their name to be called when it is their turn. Written comments may also be submitted in advance of the meeting for inclusion in the meeting packet. To submit a written comment, please contact Kim Portillo, Director of Planning and Community Development, at Kim.Portillo@leavenworthks.gov no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 29.

The meeting will also be live streamed on the City's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/leavenworthkansas. Please note, remote viewers are unable to provide public comment during the meeting.

Accessibility and Media Coordination

Accessible parking is available on the north side of City Hall adjacent to the accessible entrance. That door will also open at 5 p.m. The City's YouTube channel includes closed captioning for those who may require that assistance. If you need reasonable ADA assistance to attend the meeting, please contact Penny Holler, Assistant City Manager at Penny.Holler@leavenworthks.gov.

Members of the media interested in attending this meeting are asked to notify Melissa Bower, Public Information Officer, in advance at Melissa.Bower@leavenworthks.gov or via phone at 913-680-2610.

The City appreciates the community's interest and asks attendees to remain respectful and patient throughout the meeting.
