  The rich history and heritage of the Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas community is closely tied to its sister river towns of Atchison, Kansas and Weston, Missouri.  Located just 30 minutes northwest of Kansas City, these three communities are eager to share their warm hospitality and unique history and heritage.  So be prepared to “STEP BACK IN TIME” to the 19th century and learn how our forefathers played roles in the development of the western United States.

DAY 1
Arrive In Leavenworth at noon

Noon-1 pm - Lunch at the Riverfront Community Center (restored 1888 Union Depot) served by the "Harvey Girls", $9.00-10.75 per person  (tax & tip incl.)
Menu.

1:00-2:00 pm - Shopping at the Leavenworth’s Historic Riverfront Downtown.

2:15-3:15 pm - Guided tour of the Carroll Mansion, built in 1867.  The mansion boasts exceptionally beautiful stained glass windows and elaborately carved woodwork, $4.00 per person
.

3:15-4:15 pm - Guided tour of the "First City in Kansas", $4.00 per person.

4:15-5:45 pm - Tour of the NEW C. W. Parker Carousel Museum.  Become a kid again and take a ride on a 1913 original Parker carousel,
$5.00 per person.

6:00 pm - Check in to your hotel with a mini-reception, your group will be greeted by a prisoner to thank you for spending "TIME" in Leavenworth!  Everyone will get an individual picture of themselves behind a Leavenworth jail front, $2.00 per person!!

6:30-7:30 pm - Dinner at the High Noon Saloon, 206 Choctaw, Buffet of Slow-roasted Pulled Pork, baked beans, coleslaw, gourmet cookie, $12.00 per person (tax & tip incl.).

After dinner, your group can either tour a private Victorian home or two for $4.00 per home per person,  go for a stroll at the Leavenworth Landing Park which runs along the Missouri River, or, on certain dates, attend a local play at the 1930's Art Deco Theater in the historic riverfront downtown, $8.00 per person.

DAY 2
8:00-9:00 am
- Continental breakfast at your hotel.  Your guide for the day will step on here.

9:00-10:00 am - Guided tour
of the First City Museum, 743 Delaware, $4.00 per person donation accepted.

NOTE: Everyone MUST have a picture ID upon entering Ft. Leavenworth.

10:15-10:45 am - Meet former Buffalo Soldiers at the Buffalo Soldier Monument site, $4.00 per person.

10:45 am-12:30 pm - Guided tour of Ft. Leavenworth, $4.00 per person.
 
Self-guided tour of the Frontier Army Museum, donation of $4.00 per person accepted.

12:30-1:30 pm - Lunch at June's Cafe, Broadway & Miami Sts, Chicken Salad on Croissant, warm brownie w/ ice cream, $12.75  (tax & tip incl.).
The barbershop quartet, The “Possum Holler Four”, can sing for your group during their meal for $40.00.

1:30-2:00 pm - Travel to Atchison, KS (the home of Amelia Earhart and the Atchison, Topeka & the Santa Fe Railroad).

2:00-5:00 pm - Guided tour of Atchison, tour Atchison County Museum located within restored depot and tour Amelia Earhart's birthplace, call 1-800-234-1854 to schedule.

Travel back to Leavenworth.

6:15 pm - Dinner at Santa Fe Depot Diner, 781 Shawnee, Meat loaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable, roll, tea, coffee, dessert, $10.00 (tax & tip incl.).


DAY 3
8:00-9:00 am
- Coninental Breakfast at your hotel.

9:15-10:15 am - Guided tour of the former home of Fred Harvey, famous restaurateur, which is currently under renovation, 624 Olive St.,
donations encouraged.

10:15-10:35 am - Travel to Weston, MO, a small historic town with 22 blocks listed on the National Register.

10:35 am-12:30 pm - Activities available:  Shopping in Weston's 3-block historic downtown, (888-635-7457), Guided walking tour/museum tour (816-386-2977).

12:30-1:30 pm - Lunch at American Bowman's Restaurant, call 816-640-5235 to make reservations.
